For hierarchical and other reasons we want Epic --> Issue (Task, Story, Bug) --> Sub-Task. Unfortunetly new people always create Sub-tasks under an Epic, so I am looking for a way to block thar or even remove sub-tasks under Epic.
The only viable way to restore an issue is to create a new instance of JIRA and restore a backup that has the issues. Then export them to a csv file and import them to your production instance. You will lose the history. If you insist on deleting issues you need the delete issue permission. Charles Paul Aug 09, 2021.
Option #1 - Manual removal through the UI. If you're seeing this on individual issues, you may manually remove each duplicate link. For issue links you can only remove one of the duplicate but for Issues in Epic it will remove all duplicate and require you to recreate the association.
Click the Swimlanes tab. If your swimlanes are based on queries, you can edit your swimlanes, as described in the following table and the screenshot above. Add a new swimlane. In the blue area, type the name, JQL, and optional description, then click the Add button. Your new swimlane is added in the top swimlane position.
Because they are a part of a parent, they logically take their Epic from their parent. Annoyingly for those of us trying to do simple reports like "everything in this Epic", the link does not cascade down to the sub-tasks, and that's a long-standing fault with Jira Software. But you don't need to set an Epic link on a sub-task.
Under program configuration, Task Types: leave Epics unchecked. Under program configuration, Task hierarchy: move 'Synchronize Epics' to the Selected box. Do NOT move the 'Synchronize JIRA Agile Sprints'. You want to make sure that the user has the right access so that he can see some details. Either as a Project Admin or Board Admin.
The filter specifically does not include Epics because in Kanban if Epics are included in the filter Jira adds them to the list of work (undesired in my case.) In Agile boards, the Epics do not appear in the backlog. This is the bahavior I want, however, if I remove epics from the filter, it will not show the Epic tags on the Kanban board.
Maybe the best thing to do would be to do a release to remove Done Epics from the board so they are not easily found. Then you could create an Automation For Jira rule to email you whenever new issues are added to a Done Epic.
